Introduction

A live-action film directed, written, and VFX-ed by Takashi Yamazaki (“Always - Sunset on Third Street”, “Stand By Me Doraemon”, “The Eternal Zero”) based on Norifusa Mita’s historical manga series (Weekly Young Magazine) about the conspiracies behind the construction of battleship Yamato. It stars Masaki Suda of “Backwater” and the “Wilderness” series. The cast also includes Hiroshi Tachi as Isoroku Yamamoto, Minami Hamabe, Tasuku Emoto, and Tsurube Shofukutei. Set in the 1930s amidst the threat of war against America, a story about math genius Tadashi Kai and his mind-blowing battle of wits against the Imperial Japanese Navy to uncover the schemes and conspiracies behind the construction of battleship Yamato.

Story

In 1933, the conflict between Japan and the Western countries escalates impending World War II. The brass of the Imperial Japanese Navy zealously plans the construction of super-battleship Yamato in order to intimidate the enemies, but Rear Admiral Yamamoto insists that they should instead build an aircraft carrier to prepare themselves for battles at sea. The brass ignores Yamamoto, which makes him suspicious and prompts him to recruit math genius Tadashi Kai into the navy. Yamamoto’s plan is to have Kai analyze the enormous budget for the construction of Yamato to expose the conspiracies behind it. But as Kai uses his mathematical prowess and inherent audaciousness to conduct the analysis, the Imperial Japanese Navy stands in his way.
