Ever since his brother ran up a debt of 30 million yen and took off, librarian Kazuo (Takeru Sato) has been moonlighting at a bread factory in order to pay it off. When his wife Masako has lost patience with her husband’s obsession to pay off the debt and the low regard he shows for their family, she leaves behind divorce papers, and runs off with their daughter, Madoka. When it rains it pours, and Kazuo hits the lottery to the tune of 300 million yen. It occurs to him that not only will this pay off the debt, but it will get his family back. However, looking over the Internet at past lottery winners, he sees that their lives are far from perfect. Frightened, Kazuo decides to seek advice from close friend Tsukumo (Issey Takahashi), who became a billionaire after starting a business of his own. Kazuo is in high spirits to be reunited after so long with his friend, and the two hit the town for a night out. After passing out, Kazuo wakes up the next morning to find Tsukumo gone…along with his 300 million yen.
